IFC Releases Sixth Edition of Firestopping Inspection Manual — Inspector Pocket Guide

The International Firestop Council (IFC) proudly announces the release of the Sixth Edition of iPocket Guide coverts Firestopping Inspection Manual — Inspector Pocket Guide, an essential field  reference for construction professionals, inspectors, code officials, and engineers working to ensure life safety through compliant passive fire protection.

This latest edition reflects the most current building codes, fire safety standards, and industry best practices. It is designed to be a simple-to-apply, user-friendly resource that supports professionals in maintaining fire-resistance ratings in buildings—particularly where walls and floors are penetrated or joint systems are installed.

Key highlights of the 6th Edition include:

  • Updated guidance aligned with the 2024 editions of the International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
  • Inspection checklists and evaluation steps for firestopping of penetrations , joints, curtain wall edge-of-slab (perimeter) joints, and for duct enclosure systems.
